Laterpress provides built-in tools to help authors collect reader email addresses for newsletter building purposes.
Email Opt-In Process
When readers reach the conclusion of your free preview, they encounter a prompt asking: “get emails when the author publishes stories and has news.” Readers who select YES (the default selection) will receive scheduled emails you establish when publishing content and qualify for inclusion in your newsletter.
Retrieving Reader Data
- Log into your author account and navigate to the Reports section.
- Locate the “Download Details” button in the top right corner.
- Download your reader data as a CSV file.
- Import the spreadsheet into Google Sheets or similar program.
Your spreadsheet displays email addresses, purchase history, reading progress, and more. The “Email Consent” column is critical — entries marked TRUE indicate readers have authorized email contact and are suitable for your newsletter list.
Managing Email Preferences (Readers)
To check your subscription status:
- Log in while reading an author’s work.
- Access the menu and select “My Account.”
- Look for the email icon labeled “Subscribe to author’s emails.”
- A blue slider indicates you’re opted in; toggle it to adjust preferences.
